In Truth Project, lesson 8, Dr. Tacket presents the question "what does it mean when we say 'God dwells within me'?"
    What do you think?

Last night was awesome. It was a very good discussion. I want to make a long explanation to a quick reference that will simplify the mystery of the Family of God. It is astounding awe of what God was and is planning to bring you into His relationship.

Remember that God had said in Genesis 1:26, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness...,” He said “us” and “our” in that scripture. He is referring to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. So the Father and the Holy Spirit are invisible, and the Son is visible because He was “pre-incarnated” during the Old Testament time and became “incarnated” in the New Testament. And yet, He was resurrected and His incarnated body is in the Heaven with Him. The Son is a Fully Man and a Fully Divine. I’m sure you knew that. Just wanted to point that out.

God had planned to make the Son visible so we can see Him as a Fully Man, though we can’t see the Father and the Holy Spirit, but only the Son can see because He is a Fully Divine. During the Old Testament, there were sacrificial offerings many times for the Son to bring powerful and pure. In God’s timing, He sent His Son to this world to show the way. You know this story. The purpose was and still is for us to get connected with the Christ, we are in Him (if we believe in Him) and He is in us. That’s the Fully Man purpose and the purpose for the Fully Divine is the Son is in the Father and the Father is in the Son.

    Get the picture?

Therefore, when we believe in Christ, the Holy Spirit indwells in us. We have a connection to the Christ to build a relationship with Him. That is what God had planned for us and to be closer to Him, so that He will protect us. If the Holy Spirit did not indwell in us, we don’t have a connection to the Christ. That’s exactly what Dr. Tackett had explained to us last night. So, don’t be discouraged, because you have received God’s salvation and you are protected. Everyone needs Jesus Christ. You can’t lose your salvation, Because God loves you.

Keep focused on God and the Word of God will keep you clean and holy.

I found this related information really interesting from my current study:

When Moses was instructed on how to build the tabernacle for the Israelites, the purpose was for God to dwell among His people in the spirit.  The Ark of the Covenant was placed in the Most Holy place and was where God was to symbolically reside among the people.

I was amazed at the specificity of how God instructed Moses to build this tabernacle where God's spirit resided.  God created the Earth in 6 days...it took Him 40 days to discuss how to build the place on Earth where He was to reside.  The symbolism, and seriousness of how one could enter the tabernacle was a real testiment to how holy God is and how greatly He should be revered.  When Christ came and died for us, he replaced the tabernacle, and WE are now the tabernacle- the place where God's spirit resides.  I try to remember how specific and Holy the building was, and remember that I should take my own body that seriously- where God's spirit also resides.

John 1:14 tells us that Jesus is God, dwelling among us in the flesh.  Again, an effort on God's part to dwell among us. Ephesians 2:19-22 describes how God dwells among the people of the church.  And 1 Corinthians 6:19 describes how the Spirit of God, dwells in our bodies.

The connection I made in this, is that God is always making the effort to dwell among us, as close as possible without us being consumed by His holy and righteous glory.  PG mentioned in the sermon last week, to reach out our hand and see it as "God's Hand" based on the verse from Proverbs 3:27.  I really liked that visualization...that my hands are in fact, the hands of God as they do everything good.
