In 1 Samuel 8, we learn about the story of Samuel (a judge of Israel before there were kings), and his wicked sons. Samuel was going to put his wicked and dishonest sons as judges over Israel before his death. But the Israelites rejected the sons and asked Samuel to appoint a King over them.

God said that the people had rejected HIM...and thereby punished them by giving them what they wanted...a king, that would eventually treat them as slaves and take their first fruits (due only to God).

If the sons were wicked and not following God's ways, why would God consider their rejected and rejection of Himself? Is it ever appropriate to reject those in power/authority over us?

God tells us to obey those that have athority over us unless they try to force us to do things that are against his laws.
